Why It Exists
Micro-stops nobody logs. Alarms everyone ignores. A dashboard number nobody fully trusts.
Every industrial operation has challenges that don't always make it into a formal improvement project. A machine stops briefly and restarts. Operators work around recurring alarms. Engineering drawings no longer match the control application. Production data looks reasonable, but nobody is entirely certain where the numbers come from.
Individually, these issues may seem minor. Over time, they can contribute to lost productivity, unreliable information, and unnecessary troubleshooting.
At BC Automation, we believe meaningful improvements often begin with understanding the systems you already have.
That's why we created our Rapid Proof of Value (POV) evaluation.
Scope
For $5,000, BC Automation provides a focused engineering evaluation of one machine, skid, laboratory setup, or defined process involving up to 25 devices.
Rather than beginning with a major modernization project, we examine existing control-system information, engineering documentation, and available operating records to identify gaps, risks, and opportunities.
The evaluation is designed to be completed remotely using information your team already has.
No new equipment, software installation, live system access, or production interruption is required for the standard remote evaluation.
The objective is straightforward: understand what's happening, identify what deserves attention, and provide practical next steps.
Diagnostic Menu
Every facility has different concerns. One may struggle with equipment reliability, while another faces outdated documentation, confusing alarms, or inconsistent production metrics.
Our Diagnostic Menu & Evaluation Guide helps narrow the investigation.
Working with your team, we select three diagnostic priorities from 25 available focus areas organized into five categories:
Engineering drawings, control files, I/O records, control-system backups and restore procedures, recovery readiness, documentation currency, version records, and configuration traceability.
Screen layouts, tag naming, recurring alarms, and operator visibility.
Control sequences, recipes, setpoints, scaling, and differences between documented and configured operation.
Micro-stops, recurring faults, instrument concerns, unstable loops, potential bottlenecks, and recovery preparedness for critical system dependencies.
Data accuracy, missing operational context, reporting gaps, undocumented process knowledge, and available documentation relevant to audits, insurance requirements, and applicable standards.
For example, a facility experiencing recurring short stoppages might choose to investigate micro-stop patterns, nuisance alarms, and inconsistent operating setpoints.
These three priorities establish a focused review around one primary operating question rather than expanding the engagement into a complete engineering study.
You don't need to know the root cause before contacting us. We'll help define the investigation.
How It Works
We discuss your operating concern, define the equipment or process boundary, and agree on three diagnostic priorities.
Your team securely provides available information, such as PLC/PAC/HMI application files, P&IDs, electrical drawings, equipment documentation, operating procedures, alarm histories, or production records.
BC Automation reviews the supplied information, examining relevant logic, configurations, equipment relationships, operating evidence, and potential discrepancies.
We deliver a concise engineering gap-analysis report with supporting examples, prioritized findings, recommended verification, and practical next steps. We then review the results with your team.
The report distinguishes between findings supported by the available records and conditions that would require additional physical verification.
Boundaries & Options
Some findings may reveal straightforward improvements your team can investigate or implement through its normal engineering procedures.
Others may identify the need for additional testing, on-site verification, control-system improvements, or a broader modernization effort.
Either way, you'll have a clearer picture of the selected process and the options available.
Site visits and physical verification can be separately scoped, with applicable travel and expenses additional.
Additional evaluation efforts can be scoped separately.
The standard $5,000 Rapid POV is an analytical review. It does not include control-code changes, equipment modifications, formal safety validation, or implementation engineering.
If you decide to move forward with BC Automation, the full $5,000 evaluation fee is credited toward a subsequent qualifying engagement under agreed commercial terms. There is no obligation to proceed.
You don't need to replace your controls or commit to a major capital project to begin understanding where improvements may be possible.
Start with one process. Choose three priorities. Send us the information you already have.
We'll examine the evidence and provide a focused engineering assessment to help your team decide what comes next.
